It’s been an interesting week. The only consistent thing has been the heat. During the say, we are having upper 90s with a Feels Like temperature of over 100 degrees. No rain in the forecast despite being 12+ inches below our normal average (which has been pretty much the same story all summer). There are talks about the Water Police setting down regulations on water usage. *sigh*
Alright, so let’s beat the heat and get into some of the more interesting stuff:
WHO WON?
I had 2 entrants for my “Guess My Time” contest: Marathon Chris from the Blog and Podcast: Running Adventures and Petra from the Blog: Petra’s Still Running. Let’s see how these beautiful women did and see if they are the new owners of some delicious Odwalla Bars. They had to predict 4 different items for my Scholar’s Run last weekend. The 1st item was Overall Time, MarathonChris: 23:51 and Petra: 23:12 and my official time was 23:32. Wouldn’t you know it… splits it right down the middle!! That is just FREAKY!
2nd item was Overall Place. This one was a little trickier as the race had a 10 year high of 303 finishers! I was finisher #87 and that put me in the top 30% of finishers, so MarathonChris: 74 and Petra:73 would have been closer had there not been so many faster runners, which also affected item #3.
3rd item was Age Group Place. I was even surprised at my “No better than” 11th in my age group! Apparently the increase of finishers were faster runners in my Age Group! MarathonChris and Petra:4th and even I thought that I would be no worse than 6th, but 11th! Yikes!
4th item was Bib Number. This was just a stab in the dark. Not all races start with 1, some start with 1000 and if you do start with #1, the number of preregistered runners is a total guess as well. My bib number was 214 and here is how the girls guessed, MarathonChris: 183 and Petra: 189.
So, although I wouldn’t suggest they go pick out lottery numbers, I do consider them really good guess and thus each deserving of 2 Odwalla Bars! All you lovely ladies need to do to claim your delicious and nutritious prize is to email me your postal address and I will get them on their way!
RUNNING
I only ran twice this week (Tuesday and Friday) both runs turned out to be Tempo runs which I guess served their purpose. Tuesday run was supposed to be easy, but turned into Tempo within 1/2 mile, then the last 3/4 of a mile of the run, it was just survival! The heat was so crazy, I had to get back to the Aquatic Center ASAP. Now that UT is back in school, there are more pedestrians around and that lends to faster paces and more obstacles. Friday’s run was a fairly fast 4 mile run on the Fab 4 Miler course. Running Tempo paces in the heat, really takes a lot out of you. I am hoping that the weather will break soon.
I did have a script for the next Gravity episode, but it’s off having a party somewhere. I can’t find it, so apart from everything else, I need to rewrite that script. *sigh*
SEASON CYCLE MOVING ROUND AND ROUND
Uh, it’s 100 degrees outside but you can’t stop nature’s cycle. I noticed on Tuesday that there were a lot more leaves around. Then, one of the trees in my neighborhood is about 3/4 of the way bare. Fall is coming and there’s nothing you can do about it!
REARM and REGROUP
Although my week was thrown a couple of monkey wrenches and my schedule was topsy turvy, I am going to get back on track with everything that I need to do and want to do. I mean, what’s a boy to do? It’s not like I can go out and buy shoes but there is always bags… Mmmmm bags.
Hey… not to rub it in, or anything… but it’s 75 here today! 🙂
AHHHH RELIEF!
M~
Hey – I usually do REALLY badly on these guess things so I’m very pleased with this. And whatever an Odwalla bar is – I will try it. As for your manbag fantasies – I didn’t realise it was possible for a man to be as obsessed as I am. We are partners in nuttiness, my friend.
oh that picture would certainly make me happy and smile….how wonderful…thanks for sharing….
I sm sooooo thankful that the tree is losing leaves. Fall, show your face!
It was 79 when I went running today. Our high though carried with it a heat index of 109. It sure is nice to be getting these cooler days lately.
I was inspired by this post to do a weekly summary of my running too.
Definitely made me smile so figure it is a happy photo!
Come see mine.
He is a total cutie! And what a smile! Looks like he enjoyed that cake too! Great photo.
