Monday Madness

Okay, I am back at work reading the play-by-plays of the Elite runners now, they are about at the half way point, or actually should be past by now. I am trying to remember all the tidbits I was thinking about on the way back from working out.

I did not get a chance to hit the grocery store to get some Easter Candy rejects… I will have to wait until I can make it to the store to see what they got, and to be honest a big bag of jelly Beans at 75% is fine with me… really. I am making myself sick by taking out about 3/4 of the 1st 42oz bag of mini eggs.

This is what I found on my car this morning:

sweet pollen

Today’s workout was rather hot and warm but the breeze made it bearable. Soon, it will be shirtless running weather, which is great at lunch because that is less clothing I have to forget at home or the office! I will need to capture some sun rays so that I won’t be so self-conscious when I am three-quarters naked while running. I do run races with a shirt… typically fast runners wear a singlet or nothing at all to shave off those precious ounces that give them some form of advantage. I am NOT one of those runners… I am fast than most but not all. My run today was two-fold. 1) I was running hill repeats around campus and 2) Ran most of the Trideltathon run course. The Trideltathon run course is not all that easy, especially the last 1.5 miles, but it ends on nice even ground. So, if you don’t die in the hills, you have a chance to have a good time. The first hill that you have to attack is called “The Hill”. This is older part of campus that houses the science and engineering types. You go up around and back down the hill, but then have to turn right into a short steep hill. The only reprieve at the top of this hill is that the hill you then turn on to is not a steep, but it’s longer. So the next hill isn’t as steep, but for about 0.2 of a mile you are working hard. Once you make it up this hill you have about 1/2 a mile to regain your composure and for a fast finish. Here’s the course that I took for a total of 3.18 miles in 26:40.

Split Split Distance Overall Distance Split Time Split Pace Overall Time Comments
1 1.0 2.5 20.14 8:06 20:14 &nbsp
2 0.1 2.6 2:04 20:10 22:18 I walked up the last hill since I eccentially sprinted up the shorter, steeper hill
3 0.58 3.18 4:22 7:32 26:40 I don’t believe this pace calculation.

Here’s something I discovered on the walk to the aquatic center:

Ants Marching

Ants Marching

ANTS! And a whole mess of them too… I am not sure what they were after but it must have been some good stuff.

One last thing… I wanted to pull this out of the comments of last post, so that those playing at home would know… Chris Rooney’s Brother, Tim Rooney, is running Boston right now. Track him via bib #7259, but you better hurry… he’s a fast mo-fo (projected 3:25 marathon at the half)!
