Friday

All is quiet on the East Tennessee front. I was going to run today, but I left the house late and I needed to send a package out today for Jen. So, that pretty much took out my lunchtime. I guess that’s not a big deal, it’s just more rest after the marathon. I am debating whether to run in the morning tomorrow and what I would run. I think if I got up early enough, I could do 6 miles in an hour no problem. There is a new road near my house and I am anxious to see what it is like for running purposes.

As I change my focus from post-marathon recovery to my next race, the Trideltathon on April 23rd, I have to totally rethink my approach. What used to be maximum mileage at lunchtime, now needs to transform to more Tempo and speedwork. I will now have to include biking into my run/swim lunchtime routine. The distance of the run is only 3 miles, but at the end of the race after biking 6 miles after swimming 400m, pace is important. Now, there is no chance for me to place in my age group, but that’s not my goal. My goal is two-fold. One, set a PR for the race and Two, beat my friend Gray who is traveling from Virginia to compete in the Trideltathon. Our gentleman’s bet is that the loser has to but the winner’s beverage of choice.

But back to the training. Biking… I have to add biking (my worst discipline) to my training. So, what to do? Do I add 2 days biking, 2 days swimming and 1 day running with the weekends off? Or 1 run, 1 swim, 2 bike and a Rest day… maybe a run on Saturday. I only have 3 weekends before raceday, so I should decide soon… huh?
